Ba àm kɨ mwaan ndin ’ar kas.

Translation:
Water does not flow without a channel.
Postproverbial:
Àm kɨ mak goghol ar nsat.
Translation:
Water can dig a channel for herself.
Comments:
The literal interpretation of this proverb is that one cannot succeed without someone’s help. The traditional life of Mwaghavul people encourages communal shared responsibility. However, today’s reality advocates “self-hep”; hence, the postproverbial sense that one can help himself/herself to succeed.
