Harĩ mũthuri hatĩitagwo,maaĩ

Translation:
Where there is elderly man, one must not pour water
Postproverbial:
Harĩ mũthuri, hatithakagwo naho
Translation:
Where there is elderly man, one should not joke with that place
Comments:
Both proverbs acclaim the honourable position held by elderly people but display reverence differently.Whereas, the original proverb castigates being foul-mouthed,the postproverbial shuns even jokes. Also, while the original proverb is philosophically stated, the postproverbial is pedestrian
